Where do the record number of global asylum-seekers come from?  And where do the U.S. asylum-seekers from?  Turns out that even though the U.S. is the top destination for asylum-seekers, none of the global top-5 seekers (red) make the U.S. top-5 seekers specifically (yellow).

  

It is worth noting that the top 5 global asylum-seekers (you can they are far and away where the world’s leading atrocities are occurring) instead choose other diverse and quite-distant destination locations.  But for the U.S., we are queerly seeing a disproportionately-high number of asylum-seekers from the nearby Latin American countries who only select the U.S.!
