Sufficient Whites?

More Whites in the White House Cabinet, than since President Reagan. Pictures of all-White Congressional interns. Pictures of all-White military spouses. How come?
A] Discrimination
B] It's faulty data
C] Just happenstance
D] Fair & merit-based

This is the question on one of our live polls and a worthy macro question to consider whenever you see information such as this pass your news feeds. We don't have an reply for it, but will note that we did ask another simple and hypothetical probability question:

If each White man (p=60%) & Black man (p=40%) in a military photo has a 0% & 60% chance of marrying woman of color, respectively, then what's the probability of seeing zero colored spouses from a sample of 52?
A] 0.0000000000004%
B] 0.0000000003%
C] 0.0000002%
D] 0.0001%

It is worth noting that over 3/4 of respondents chose answer (A), and once again we intervened and posted the solution during that live poll as well.  Even answer (D) is very slim odds.

In any event, let's step away from the mathematical proof for a moment.  Given everything we have seen in just recent weeks (Starbucks, Airbnb, Yale, Grandview Golf Course, Waffle House, Cobb Police, Nordstrom, Lake Merritt, Colorado State University, NYPD, L.A. Fitness, Barstow Police, etc.), it is worth asking if there's just a little more that we all can be doing to be more inclusive and representative? There is of course no one answer; what are your thoughts?
