Who’s on deck, 2020?

Note, response from Rufus Gifford here.

If you thought the 2016 Republican field of candidates was as wide as the ocean [link], just wait until you see the 2020 Democratic field.  In the pie chart below, we show the top dozen potential U.S. candidates, sorted by the casino betting odds.  Somehow also related, and just for pleasure, we show the number of twitter followers each candidate has.  As you can imagine, President Trump has nearly as many followers, as everyone else combined.  Notice further that excluding President Trump, professional-wrestler (turned actor) Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has nearly as many followers as Bernie Sanders, Cory Booker, and Elizabeth Warren combined (and a stronger probability of winning than the former two combined!)  As “The Rock” is best known for asserting in a pornographic-voice, in a recent Fast and Furious action movie, “daddy’s gotta go to work”. [link]  That’s right, and before we get to "a better deal" from people few have heard of, we should ask whether we can "smell what the Rock's got cooking"? [link] Julian Castro for example had a prime speaking slot at the recently magnificent yet fated DNC convention and yet has only in the 100k follower range.  Rufus Gifford has 30k.  And clearly, all down-hill after that.  To add spice, I put myself in the ring (colored gold, at 115k) to see if that helps even things up.

Also, wittily we see that in the past few weeks, Kamala Harris is suddenly gaining in the election odds (tied with Cory Booker).  Those who follow us on social media would have seen how this rise comports to her still low election odds. [link]  Smelling blood is the waters, many more new entrants, of all sorts, will enter the fray before 2020!  Also please note that facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg does not use twitter, as the social media chiefs often eschew each other's platforms even if they may technically be on it (e.g., I have more Google+ views than Mark Zuckerberg does).
