Criminals deported back to Americas

There has been recent anxiety in the Hispanic community that President Trump is going to swarm the country with federal squads designed to wholesale round-up and expel mass-numbers of unauthorized immigrants.  The arrest of 680 undocumented immigrants (and that’s just the data from 12 states) in the recent week, and at the initiation of the President's tenure, has provided some uneasiness.  Anyone with arithmetic skills can see that this comes to an annualized rate of 35.4k (680*~52).  But bear in mind that these arrests were just from a slice known as “community arrests” where targets are known.  And ½ of these arrests for deportation were either violent criminals or in some cases drug offenders (this is an incurably high probability of ruffians among the undocumented and may include some of the 84-lumber Superbowl actors shown here).  To make matters worse, prior Administrations typically remove a far greater number of illegal immigrants than this annual 35.4k level, though this criminally-laden populace and those not yet caught are not enough to have allowed President Trump to have won the popular vote through this invalid voting logic.

In 2016 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security removed 240k aliens (and that was a drop from a decade high of 410k aliens in 2012, coming to 7.9k removals a week!)  As we see in the chart below, these unauthorized immigrants are not all Mexicans despite the political rhetoric, but rather cover citizens from 185 countries about the world (including most of the most populated countries).  Though as we can also see from the chart below is that most of these 240k aliens are from the Americas, specifically Mexico on down through South America.

In fact citizens from the top most removed countries account for 233k of the 240k aliens, or put differently the other 175 countries could be removed in two weeks during the year while the other 50 weeks could be devoted to aliens from just 10 countries only.  And 175k of these removals were from border or entry port apprehensions, and >1/3 have criminal records.  If they were not removed there, then they are likely to be found in the sanctuary cities speckled nearby those same locations.

Another way to get a sense for the scale of the unauthorized immigration problem from different countries is to contrast the number of citizens removed, relation to the overall population of that nation.  And that’s what we see below (also note that some countries such as China and India become a rounding error).  And once again we see that when looking at the population portion of countries sending illegal aliens to the United States, the top couple handful is still among the Americas, from Mexico on down.

  1. Hello! Can you point me in the direction of some data that shows that indeed undocumented people in the US constitute a "crime-laden populous*"

    * populace - I think this is what you meant to say

    Thanks!

    1. Thanks so much Vincent. Please see the 2nd link in the article ("240k aliens") that points to the Official Website of the Department of Homeland Security. Thoughout this site you will see evidence of well above-average violent criminal convictions among the undocumented.
